IRC: Integrate my scripts in your mIRC
Update: all you find below can be now considered obsolete
I didn't feel like deleting the thing because.. you see, I invested quite some time writing the whole babble. Anyway, since my last big change to the IRC session witnesses, each major script has its own TXT file which you can load separatey into mIRC, thus ignoring any other big script you may alrady have installed. So simply access the scripts from the IRC button of the menu.
I made this page as an introduction to all the tutorials where you can find scripts and/or procedures you can add to mIRC (all these scripts work under the 5.9 version of mIRC, older/newer versions MAY differ, but this you should check with Khaled, or better, with the versions.txt file that he puts in every distribution
); this is important especially if you aren't adding my scripts/procedures to a CLEAN installation of mIRC; if your mIRC is freshly installed and not modified, you may jump directly to the end of this page.
BUT, if instead you use other scripts/procedures which modify in some way your mIRC (example, first of all, Polaris, SpR, SDFind... but also everything else - I mean, dam, you SHOULD know whether you installed one or more scripts in your mIRC or if your installation is clean), you need to carefully read this:
all you change in your mIRC configuration, previously modified by other scripts/procedures, is made AT YOUR OWN RISK, since adding an event trigger to an existing script suite can (it is not always true, but possible) lead either to the uselessness of the script you just added, or to the MISFUNCTION of your previous script. Insert my scripts ONLY if you know what you are doing, otherwise you may need to delete/reinstall from scratch mIRC and your old scripts due to a malfunction. This is all. Basically. At least. BTW, I do NOT intend to add a guide on how to integrate my scripts with your old ones... because it's very time consuming, and because I believe that every mIRC geek should make his own fundamental scripts, thus knowing how to change them at need.
[17th November 2001] Notice: I am adding TXT addons for most of the scripts, so you can use them instead of adding the lines yourself, thus easing much more the work, and avoding conflicts with precedent scripts.
Both for you who add my scripts/procedures over a clean mIRC and to those who already have other scripts:
Do NOT arbitrary modify any part of my scripts/procedures you think may be changed or removed, unless you are sure this ain't gonna mess up the rest of the code. In particular, do NOT mess with the procedures hierarchy, moving or deleting code between parenthesis (that is { and }) if you don't know how paranthesis and procedures hierarchy work. My scripts/procedures may not work properly/at all if you do. Everything which may be useful to be changed has been documented in each script/procedure page; if I didn't add comments about the part YOU want to change, it's because it's not important/I forgot/I didn't have time; in any of these cases, change the code AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Final warning:
Also if you have a clean mIRC, but plan to add all/almost all of my scripts/procedures, consider that you'll face some work of integration as well. To provide you with the basics for each script, I had to rip off the single parts of my whole script suite (which I made myself) to match a single purpose for page. But all those parts are in some way all linked one with each other, so don't expect a tutorial to report EXACTLY what my script looks like, since I had to restyle it accordingly. You may find in a far future also the whole suite of scripts I use among these pages, who knows.
Enough for the introductory part. I am going to add a link to this page at the beginning of each mIRC scripting tutorial, so you can't say I didn't warn you
And below..... TAADAA finally the "IRC Ring" accepted my subscription, and I added its navigation bar.
